Miango is a lush green village at the base of the mountains in the bend of the Lifang River. The local people are known for their incredible weaving and rice production. The region of Miango has suffered over the last few decades from war, political instability and more recently harsh monsoon seasons.
Jacinta is 9 and doesn’t go to school, she works in the fields gathering rice to help her family buy food to eat. She is often sick due to the dirty water she drinks from the river. She loves looking at pictures in books and dreams of being able to read the stories…
